I re-enabled the option to approve all new sign ups cause even though I have recaptcha, spammers are still getting into the site, and spamming, so all new users are supposed to go through the approval process, however I am not sure if that applies to Facebook sign ups. If so, message me on facebook, Joseph Slabaugh, and I can approve you.
You can now use your Facebook to sign into EX-Amish Forum Version 3.0! Note that you should include something about Amish in your application, as I got so many spammers that have weird messages as their bot created applications that I have to weed through to find the legitimate ones. However, I have found that also if you sign up via Facebook, then I have no such issue.
I had to start with a 3rd system, I had used phpBB and got tons of spam, then I spend a few 100 and moved it to VB owned license, but that still had spam, so I tried to block the spam but requiring users to use the word "Amish" in their username, and that caused problems too, as people were confused with that system, so now I went with a free software that does not have those spam problems, and allows users to log in via their OpenID, Twitter, or Facebook accounts. That makes for a lot easier login, and you no longer have to call yourself Amish if you are not!
Hey, I'm Rosie Louwe Kooijmans, a 17-years-old girl form Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I'm working on a project about Amish and the Rumspinga. I'm really want to know what Amish do in their Rumspringa and why they are going back to their community after the Rumspringa. I really appreciate if someone help me out. My email is rosielk@live.nl.
