Fire destroys Amish barn in Mifflin Township
  • EXAmishEXAmish June 2011
A fire destroyed a barn owned by an unidentified Amish farmer on Route 25 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, on Saturday.

There were no injuries and none of the livestock was harmed, according to Berrysburg Fire Chief Lynn Mace.

    Firefighters
were dispatched about 2 p.m. and did not leave the scene until after
6:30 p.m. Other companies responding included Elizabethville, Pillow,
    Gratz and Millersburg.

Mace said that about 100 firefighters helped extinguish the fire.

“The heat was a big issue,” he said. “We had to keep rotating guys through.”

The cause of the fire was unknown.
